To perform as a winner, you must first believe you are a winner.

I have really enjoyed and marvelled at the Olympic Games these last two weeks & those involved in providing the stage for this incredible spectacle did the UK proud. I desperately wanted to avoid an Olympic cliché affirmation this week. However this thought has stayed in my mind throughout the Olympics....

7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey

I originally posted this synopsis of The 7 habits of highly effective people back in 2009. To mark the recent passing of its great author Stephen Covey I felt it would be appropriate to repost it here today. I highly recommend his book (7 Habits) to any business owner and certainly to all my clients. It contains simple, straight forward, common sense habits that will help anyone who is running a business. I have modified the time quadrant to be represented by seats in a car (Image inserted below) and will blog this separately at some point... Anyway, here is a brief synopsis of the book written by a wise and amazing man... Stephen R. Covey 1932 - 2012

Bottom line, if you don't enjoy what you're doing, then the chances are you won't succeed.

Improving the odds with a Business Coach

Did you know that statistically your chances of survival in business beyond five years are about the same as the flip of a coin!?! According to recent statistics published by the Small Business Administration (SBA), seven out of ten business startups will survive at least two years but only 51 percent will survive beyond five years. This is a far cry from the previous long-held belief that 50 percent of businesses fail in the first year and 95 percent fail within five years.

Basic Skills For Any Sales Person

In my experience, I am convinced that techniques and methods of sales are teachable to anyone who has the desire to learn. However, there are a few natural skills that are of great benefit if they already exist within those that want to be successful in sales. Without these, success will take a longer time but it can still be achieved. If there is no desire and dedication to learning or developing these skills, then the selling will be much more difficult and often very stressful.

Ready, Set, GOAL!

If it's not in writing, it's not a goal. An unwritten want is a wish, a dream, a never-happen. If it's in writing, it's a commitment. 2. If it's not specific, it's not a goal. Broad desires and lofty aims have no effect. It must be concrete.

You DON'T want your customer to be simply satisfied!

When you deliver your product or service to the customers expectations they will be satisfied, no more, no less. They will simply go away having received the goods or service to the expected standards and basically say nothing.
